EBay users urged to change passwords due to database breach
EBay has recently discovered that a database on their corporate network, which contains employee passwords and personal data, has been compromised by hackers. In an article by Network World website, it states that a “small number of employee log-in credentials” have been affected, but they have yet to find any evidence that user financial data could be at risk. The database does contain information such as customer names, email addresses, passwords, phone numbers, dates of birth, and physical addresses, but does not include financial or other confidential data. Although it states that no proof has been discovered of a rise in fraudulent activity on eBay, it is still advised for eBay users to change their passwords anyway.
