We have recently discussed the importance of encryption and protecting sensitive data. Yahoo has stated that they are enabling HTTPS encryption for Yahoo email as a default. This is for all users on their network and the web portal upgrade will use 2,048-bit encryption keys securing certificates. The certificates are used for encrypted communication between the web browser and server. Google has also recently upgraded their encryption techniques last November and other companies such as Microsoft and Facebook have stated they will be performing encryption upgrades in the near future.
