The FCC has released a guidelineĀ for smart phone users on how to protect their devices from security threats.
CSO reports an online tool called “Smartphone Security Checker” was released by the FCC offering information to mobile users on how to prevent personal data from being compromised when their devices get lost or stolen or are exposed to malware infections. Recommendations include password protecting mobile devices, backing up data, security settings, installing apps from trusted resources, applying firmware updates, using secure Wi-Fi connections, avoiding certain activities in public wireless hotspots, and more. This guide also includes information for devices with various Operating Systems (Apple, Android, BlackBerry and Windows) and maintenance tips.
