Amazon and Apple address security concerns after hack

 

Apple and Amazon have temporarily shut down services to update their systems following a recent hack that exposed security vulnerabilties.

 Amazon – the online retail giant-  revealed a security vulnerability within their customer service line. Callers could gain control of a stranger’s account if they knew their name, email address and mailing address. Amazon worked quickly to remedy the situation.

With Apple, it appears that any person could reset an Apple user ID by phone by providing only a few easily obtainable details about the account holder such as name, email, mailing address, last 4 digits of credit card. Apple has also confirmed that the issue since has been addressed.
